BLOODBORNE PATHOGEN REQUIREMENTS
For Those Who Come into Contact with Blood and Other Bodily Fluids in the Workplace

The new Body Art Ordinance requires that you have a Bloodborne Pathogen Class and that you have an Exposure Control Plan. This class meets and exceeds the new requirements.

With any new regulations there is always confusion. Carolyn understands this subject very well because she has been teaching the Bloodborne Pathogen class to the dental profession since 1997. She is an approved provider with the Dental Board of California, and she is also a U.S. Department of Labor Approved OSHA Trainer.

Carolyn’s teaching style is easy to follow, and you will leave this class with a working knowledge of the regulations and how they are intended to protect you and your clients, and you will be prepared for an inspection by the Santa Clara County Environmental Health Department.

In addition to the training itself, you will receive the following class materials:

1.      Lecture notes.

2.      An Exposure Control Plan. The ECP is 90% complete and will be completed during the class. A copy of the ECP is also included on the CD so that you can easily update the plan.

3.      A copy of the Santa Clara County Environmental Health Department Body Art Ordinance.

4.      An MSDS notebook

5.      A printed Certificate of Completion of the OSHA BPS Training Class

6.      A CD containing:

a.     Documents required for your medical files

                                i.      Hepatitis B information

ii.      Instructions on how to set up a medical file

b.     Medical Waste Treatment Log

c.     Board of Barbering & Cosmetology Information

                                 i.      Self Inspection Checklist

                                ii.      Sanitation Requirements

d.     A copy of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard

e.     A Miscellaneous Folder with information on:

                                  i.      How to make a Biohazard Spill Kit

ii.      Catch phrases to use for advertising

iii.      How to reorder autoclavable medical waste treatment bags (Red Bags)

                                 iv.      Sharps mail-back systems

                                  v.      Spore testing

The study of Bloodborne Pathogens may not sound very glamorous, but it is required by OSHA and a crucial part of protecting yourself, your staff, your clients, and your business.
